MARCH 18, 2020:
In a continued effort to mitigate the risk and prioritize safety, we have decided to temporarily suspend operations of all High Point facilities beginning March 18th through April 7th. We believe that social distancing is the best way for us to do our part in slowing the spread of COVID-19.
High Point Climbing And Fitness Memphis is located just west of Shelby Farms Park off of Walnut Grove Road. High Point Memphis brings world-class climbing to West Tennessee with over 30,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor climbing surface featuring walls up to 55 feet tall! We also offer a Kid Zone, Bouldering Room, Weight and Aerobic Rooms, and yoga classes! Climbing Clubs and Teams can be joined at any time. Yoga classes are offered throughout the week and are included with any Membership or Day Pass!
What do I need to know before I come?
Rock climbing is a sport that can be experienced and enjoyed by all ages and ability levels. At High Point, we try to foster that experience by offering classes and access options for everyone. One thing all first time visitors must do is complete a waiver before they can use the facility. You can fill a waiver out using the links below.
If you’re an experienced climber, and know the ropes, this link will take you to our rates page. If you’re new to climbing or don’t know where to start, read on.
There are two basic options for those who have never climbed before or have no formal training. The first is to use a device called an auto belay. An auto belay is a device that takes slack out of the system as the climber moves up the wall. When the climber lets go or falls, the auto belay lowers them back to the ground. This option requires a short orientation and, upon completion, allows you to use all of our auto belays in the gym.
The second, and most advantageous option, is to take a class and learn to belay. This two hour Basic Belay Class teaches climbers to use the 50+ rope stations in the gym in addition to the auto belays, which means you have access to nearly everything in the facility. Even if you don’t plan to climb yourself, you can still take the class and belay for others. The class also includes some great perks! You can read more about the class and its benefits with this link to our classes page.
