  • We’re Now Booking Birthday Parties!

June 19, 2020   |   By: High Point Climbing

Starting as early as July 3rd you’ll be able to host your next birthday party with us at High Point! Here are some things you should know about our new party guidelines to keep our guests and staff safe and healthy! The party room will not have overlapping times making for an even larger, unshared, space. Your group will have the ability to practice safe social distancing. We will be utilizing the time between parties to sanitize the space properly before the next group enters for their allotted time. We will also be minimizing party participants to 15, we apologize if that causes any inconveniences! Reservations can be made by calling our front desk at (938) 200-8330 or under our “Birthday Parties” section of the website! We hope to see you soon!

  • We’re Open to the Public!

June 8, 2020   |   By: High Point Climbing

Hey Climbers, we’re glad to have you back! Here are a few things you can expect when entering the gym.

All temperatures will be checked via infrared thermometer upon entry and anyone reading above 100.4 degrees will be politely denied access to the gym that day, including staff members. Face coverings are not required by gym members, but please feel free to wear one if it makes you feel comfortable! Our locker rooms will continue to be closed until further notice and our touch-free water stations will be available at your convenience. We encourage you to practice safe social distancing during your time spent in the gym as well.

Currently all group events from Birthday Parties, Fitness and Climbing Classes, to all High Point Teams are all postponed and/or not accepting bookings at this time. We apologize for any inconveniences this may cause!

Our outdoor wall is open – and with some fresh routes! Stop by Monday – Friday from 5PM – 9PM, Saturday from 11AM – 9PM, and Sunday from 11AM – 7PM to get some fresh air!

  • Reopening Postponed

May 21, 2020   |   By: High Point Climbing

Dear High Point Alabama Climbing Community,

After further consideration, we have decided to postpone the opening of our Alabama facilities in both Birmingham and Huntsville. This hard decision was made following a better understanding of Alabama’s Safer at Home Order. We want to open our facilities with the full support of our community, city, and state. We are still planning to re-open when the time is right in the near future and are looking forward to climbing at a safe distance with you soon. Thank you for your patience and understanding during this time.

    Keep Climbing,

    John Wiygul

  • Temporary Closure: Member FAQ

March 19, 2020   |   By: High Point Climbing

    Is my membership frozen?
Yes, all memberships are frozen as of Wednesday March 18th. The freeze will continue until we are able to re-open. You will not be charged for the freeze.

I paid for March but you closed for two weeks. Will I get a credit?
No one will lose any time on their membership. When we confirm the re-opening date, everyone will be notified. On that date, we’ll unfreeze the memberships and you’ll only be billed for the prorated dues remaining in that month. When billing runs for the next full month, you’ll see a credit for the two weeks we were closed at the end of March.

I still have a prepaid membership. Will my end date be moved forward?
Yes. Anyone with time remaining on their prepaid will have their end date automatically moved forward when the memberships are unfrozen.

Can I continue to pay for my membership even though the gym isn’t open to help out?
Yes, despite the size of the gyms and number, we really are a small company. Those that have the means and willingness to contribute can continue to pay their membership dues. That money will be used to continue to pay our part time staff during the closure. We can’t thank you enough if you decide to do this. If you would like to opt-in to continuing your regular membership dues, please email your full name, date of birth, and home gym location to [email protected]

    What about Clubs and Teams?
Clubs and Teams have been suspended. When they restart will depend on how long we are closed. Once we have a firm re-open date, we will determine if we are going to push the entire season forward or if it will be an abbreviated season. Either way, we will give you time before they start back up to make plans accordingly.

Are you still having summer camps?
Yes, we are planning for the best so as of right now summer camps will run on schedule. However, this situation is obviously very fluid so like everything else we will let everyone know as soon as possible if that changes.

I have a birthday party or group scheduled. What if the closure continues?
If it looks like we will be unable to open on April 1st, we will be calling all groups and individuals with classes scheduled so we can get them re-scheduled for a later date.

What about the member events that were scheduled?
We already have a schedule of events for April so we will be holding those events. Some events that had to be cancelled because of the closure will be moved to future months and some will be squeezed into the upcoming month where we can.

  • Temporary Closure: Doing Our Part

March 17, 2020   |   By: High Point Climbing

In a continued effort to mitigate risk and prioritize safety, we have decided to temporarily suspend operations of all High Point facilities beginning March 18th through April 1st. We believe that social distancing is the best way for us to do our part in slowing the spread of COVID-19.

While we try our best to keep our doors open whenever possible, in this instance, our temporary closure can help ensure the safety of our members, staff and the overall community. We will be monitoring how this situation continues to unfold and use this as an opportunity to do a deep sanitation of all facilities.

    To our members:

During this time memberships will automatically be frozen at no additional cost and you will receive a prorated credit to be applied toward next month’s dues.

We will provide a status update on billing by March 27th as well as any additional details on possible closure extensions.

If you need to contact the gym, or if you need to retrieve items from a locker in our locker rooms, we will be maintaining office hours Mon-Fri from 10am to 4pm. Please email us at [email protected] and we will be happy to coordinate with your needs.

We are looking forward to serving all of our wonderful community members again soon and in the meantime encourage everyone to stay positive and safe as we move through this together!

  • Climbing With Care: COVID-19 Update

March 16, 2020   |   By: High Point Climbing

The safety of our members, guests, and staff remains a top priority. Please refer to the following message from Partner/President John Wiygul for update on increased precautions at High Point Huntsville:

    Dear High Point community,

In a continued effort to monitor the situation surrounding COVID-19, we will be taking more precautions across all of our facilities. As recommended by national health organizations, in addition to our updated hand washing initiative and increased cleaning routine, we will be implementing effective practices of social distancing in order to reduce any additional health risk.

In an effort to fortify these precautions we will discontinue all group oriented events and programs effective Sunday, March 15th through March 31st. This includes all classes, youth programming, yoga, climbing leagues, and community events. If you currently have a group event or birthday party booked with us during this time, a High Point representative will be in contact with you shortly to discuss your booking options.

With the practice of social distancing in mind, we will be considering other methods of reducing close proximity interaction. In the meantime, if you do join us in our facilities, it is recommended that you maintain a healthy personal space between you and your fellow climbers.

As always, the safety and well-being of our members and guests will remain as our top priority. These simple changes are an easy way for us to help protect as many people as possible over the coming weeks. We will continue to assess the situation at hand and consider every option we have in order to maintain the highest level of service and safety possible for our community.
