HOW DO I GET STARTED?

The easiest way to begin rock climbing is with an auto belay. You can use all the auto belays in the gym after taking a facility orientation.

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST TO CLIMB?

Day Passes for children 10 and under are $15.50 and day passes for adults are $17.50. Gear rentals and other pricing information can be found on our rates page.

WHAT TYPE OF GROUPS CAN CLIMB?

High Point can accommodate a wide variety of groups including school field trips, scouts, corporate functions, and more. Contact us to see how we can best accommodate your group climb!

HOW OLD DO I HAVE TO BE TO CLIMB?

Anyone as young 3 years old can climb at High Point! Children 13 and younger must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian, and cannot use the fitness and training areas. Children starting at 11 can belay with direct parent or legal guardian supervision after passing a top rope belay test. Children 14 and older can belay without direct supervision after passing a top rope belay test.

WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?

The best thing to wear is something comfortable you can move around in. Sweat pants, shorts, and other active wear work well. All climbers are required to wear climbing shoes while climbing anywhere in the facility. If you don't own your own climbing shoes you can rent them at the front desk.

WHAT IS TOP-ROPING?

Top roping is a style of climbing in which a climbing rope runs from the belayer at the bottom of a route up through a belay bar or anchor at the top of the route and back down to the climber, attaching to the climber by means of a harness. The top rope belayer is responsible for taking up slack as the climber moves up the wall and arresting the climber's falls. All belayers must belay directly off their harness.

DO I NEED TO COME WITH A PARTNER TO CLIMB OR TAKE A CLASS?

No, the auto belays throughout the facility allow you to climb without a belay partner. We recommend taking a Basic Belay Class which opens access to a large variety of top rope routes in the gym after passing a top rope test. Staff belayers can also be scheduled in advance.

WHAT IS LEAD CLIMBING?

Lead climbing is a style of climbing where the climber attaches themselves to a dynamic climbing rope and clips into protection while ascending a route before clipping anchors at the top. The lead belayer is responsible for taking up and paying out slack as the climber moves through the route and arresting the climber's falls.
